CONTROL OF COKING PLANT KB11 AND KB12

Customer: TŽ,a.s.Tøinec Czech Republik

Hardware equipment: FW-10 (SAE Electronik Germany)
                               Radio stations FK105 (GRUNDIG Japan)
                               Technological display EDC-80 (own development)
MDX2 for sensing of pushing-in and pushing-out holes (ESSA Czech)
TIRIS for sensing of cell number (Texas Instruments USA)
BTL for co-ordinating of the carriages to the axis of the cell (BALLUFF Germany)

Control processor: CPU Z80

Realisation: July 1996

Characteristics of the system:

Distributed control system provides control of technology and co-operation of ten service carriages. (3 x Pushing, 3 x Regulating, 2 x Ceiling and 2 x Fire carriages. From these carriages: one Pushing, one Regulating and one Fire carriage are backup ones). Surveillance system consists of two PLCīs (control of KB11 and KB12 - they are connected via serial line TTY) and PC/AT, in asynchronous work of two coking batteries at the coking plant with the pushing working - in two modes: automation and monitor. PLC systems communicate with the surveillance system via radio frequency in pooling system. They provide control functions and safety functions, too, during process of either pushing-in of cold pressed cube of milling black coal dust or pushing-out of red hot coke. Surveillance PLC is connected to the surveillance computer system of coking plant. In additional, service carriages (except Ceiling one) are equipped by one more radio which, together with software, provide alarm communication net, that is activated during pushing-out process alternately on two batteries, so that control system can stop pushing-out hole in the time limit of one second after emergency signal become active on any carriage that take part on this process.

Additional capabilities of the control system:

- each service carriage moves on the track and is equipped by control system for technology control and position
evaluating of the carriage at the cell of coking battery
- pushing carriage is additionally equipped by MDX2 system for position sensing of service pushing-in and pushing-out
holes from IRCīs. MDX2 is connected to control system via RS422
- there are radio stations plugged into PLC in surveillance system and each carriage, too, for radio frequency data
communication of control and status commands and except Ceiling carriages there are another radios with different
  frequency for alarm net
- there are technological displays plugged into PLCīs for display of technological commands and status messages in the
  cabin of a mechanic
- surveillance PLC for control KB12 and communications is equipped by radio station, serial line RS232 for connection to
superior computer PC/AT and serial line TTY to PLC for control of KB11
- process control in automatic mode from the centre based on schedule for one cell, together with blocking of the
carriages at the cell. Schedule and visualisation of whole process are solved in superior computer - arbitrator of
schedule sequence for two batteries based on time criteria
- possibility to change service carriages at the end of working cycle in automatic mode
- monitoring of the work in process for the proposal of making records in the superior computer in monitor mode
- switching on/off of High-press hydrogrouting as a function of pushing-in hole position and periodical data transfer of
hydrogrouting status to the Ceiling carriages
- switching on/off of Dust-cleaning station as a function of movement of metal basket of the Regulating carriage and
periodical monitoring of Dust-cleaning station status
- monitoring of uninterrupted power system (UPS) status for the proposal of storing in supervisor PC/AT.
